Been playing "Enter The Matrix". It's not bad, but definitely did not live up to my expectations. It's a game that could have been so much more. There were so many possibilities. Most of the game feels rigid. There's a task you have to do and there's only one way to do it. There's somewhere you have to go and there's only one path through the tunnels to go there. I havent got too far yet but the overall feeling is one of mild frustration. The game has been fairly boring.

Maybe it's because I'm comparing it to GTA Vice City which I had just completed. The driving aspect of "Enter The Matrix" is especially atrocious. Steering is jerky with the keyboard (I'm playing the PC version) and the driving is no real fun at all. I was imagining how cool the game could have been if it was made by Rockstar. They could have used the GTA engine for the driving aspects. Imagine how cool this would have been if you could have been dropped into the Matrix and wandered around as you wished in a GTA environment. Being chased by agents would be similar to having the cops chasing you.

The bullet time also could have been better. The aiming is automatic. It would have been cool to have Max Payne like aiming where you shoot where you point.

It's not that the game was bad, it's just that it could have been better. Just improvements in the gameplay and design. The hacking aspect was fun. The extra footage was good also. In fact, the only reason I really wanted to play this game was to get more of the story. However, it feels almost "Dragon's Lair"ish. That is, your actions are of no consequence and your objective is just to get to the next cut scene.

Completed the Vice CIty paramedic mission. Only took me two or three tries, much less than I expected. The biggest factor was not time, but not running the patients over or damaging the vehicle although the ambulance did appear to recover upon each stop at the hospital.

Been playing GTA: Vice City. Finished the game last weekend. Started over. Trying to complete the paramedic mission. Was daunted by the Paramedic FAQ but it went surprisingly well. Got to level 11, managed time well, then barely touched a patient on the way to rescuing him, inadvertently killing him. Argh!
